Visual Work

Editorial design and data visualization for stories that needed more than words to land.

The Problem Local journalism runs on deadline. The stories that matter most — government budgets, infrastructure projects, public health data, historical investigations — are also the ones hardest to make readable. Complex information has to become clear, fast, for a general audience that may only spend 30 seconds on a page. What I Built Solo design work across a minimum 24 projects per year over nearly three years — maps, timelines, data visualizations, explainer graphics, and full editorial spreads. Each piece started with a reporter's story and data and became something a reader could actually navigate. The work spans topics from illegal dumping patterns across Houston neighborhoods to the Sugar Land 95 convict labor camp burial sites to sustainable development in Midtown — no two the same problem, no two the same solution.
